Professor Banifatemi is globally recognized as a leading authority on international arbitration and public international law. She is a founding partner of Gaillard Banifatemi Shelbaya Disputes and previously led the Global International Arbitration Practice at Shearman & Sterling. Her work includes representing States, companies, and institutions before major arbitration tribunals across the globe.
Her roles have included Vice-President of the ICC International Court of Arbitration and membership on the courts of the LCIA and SIAC. She also served as President of the International Arbitration Institute and is a Visiting Professor of law at Harvard Law School and an adjunct Professor at Panthéon-Sorbonne University.
